This digital textile printing course will introduce digital print for textiles, using the latest in digital printing technology. Digital printing offers fast paced results with visual impact. Unlike conventional printing methods, it enables your designs to be reproduced accurately and without the loss of subtle or intricate detailing.

Throughout the course you will develop your own ideas using a variety of media sources: drawings, painting or photography, as a starting point. You will subsequently manipulate your ideas in Photoshop before finally digitally printing your design onto fabric. On completion of this course you will have a finished print of your artwork along with your digital creation on a scarf or length of fabric.

The course includes:

  • Research techniques
  • Exploring different media
  • Research development
  • Creating mood boards for colour selection
  • Fabric awareness
  • Introduction to the basics of Photoshop
  • Use of latest digital printers
  • Visit to a textile bureau

Level:

Beginner/intermediate you should have an interest in the subject and basic photoshop skills are welcome but not required.

Alex Darche is the founder of the British label Daisy Darche, which she established while studying for a BA in History of Art and Archaeology. The label was initially picked up by Liberty of London and subsequently by other department stores and boutiques in the UK and abroad.

Her fascination with color and creating moods in patterns is reflected in the label’s focus on bold, vivid prints on silks. Influences from the Far East are also visible in Alex’s designs.

Since completing an MA in Textiles specialising in Print at the Royal College of Art, Alex has worked as a freelancer designer and brand consultant collaborating with other designers and labels on various special projects.
